There are a lot of interested, weird and amazing things happening within the gaming industry and while we can’t go over all of them, we can share with you the stories that tickled our fancy.

Bowser released from prison
What a timeline we live in where a Nintendo hacker from 2020 is named Gary Bowser.
Yes, sure… the current CEO of Nintendo of America is also named Bowser but if you are going to be a villain in a Nintendo sphere, then it must be Bowser. Either that or Ganondorf.
Mr. Bowser (I will never call him Gary), was sentenced in 2021 to 40 months in prison and fined $14.5 million dollars for his role in the Nintendo hacking group: Team Xecuter. Team Xecuter sold chips that allowed users to play pirated games. Mr. Bowser was the team’s Marketing and PR Manager (OMG Bowser works in marketing!)
This is goes to show that you never fuck with Nintendo. They are like Disney. They’ll bring down that Super Smash Brother/Donkey Kong’s hammer so hard that you’ll be owing them for the rest of your life.

New PlayStation Portable
Codenamed the Q Lite is in the works however it doesn’t seem to be a traditional handheld console. More like it’s a streaming device that captures your gameplay from your PS5. That is a bit disappointing but it does host some impressive specs with adaptive streaming up to 1080p & 60FPS (Oooo smooth).
But this does mean you’ll need to be constently connected to the internet. 🙁
In terms of looks, think: Nintendo Switch except you can’t remove the handles. Honestly, if they are going to get inspiration from somewhere, it might as well be the Switch as it’s still one of the highest selling consoles to date (The PS2 and DS still holding first and second place respectively).

Mortal Kombat 12 Announcement
MK11 came out 4 years ago so we’re a bit due for another release in the MK franchise. 2023 also fits the 4-year release pattern NetherRealm Studios has been using since MK10.
4-year release pattern aside, there have been rumors that the official announcement will happen during a PlayStation’s June Showcase. This’ll make sense as we’re all waiting for the full Summer Game Fest reveals and announcements.
Just to take this on, here’s our wish list of characters we want to see in Mortal Kombat 12:
- Ash Williams
Let’s just be honest… It’ll never happen. Bruce Campbell himself said that he didn’t want Ash Williams in Mortal Kombat. We can’t understand why considering Ash William code was found in MK11. Still… it’s called a wish list for a reason.
- Ellen Ripley
Mortal Kombat had the Xenomorph, why can’t we have a bad ass space woman come in with a giant exosuit. Maybe outside of the suit she could bust out Sci-Fi weapons and even maybe send aliens to attack her foes.
- IT aka Pennywise
Fighting agaist Pennywise the Clown would be a trip TBH. Warping around the battlefield, attacking while morphing into a giant spider form. Hell, NetherRealm isn’t afraid to bring a clown to the fight (Joker), so why not bring some Steven King spookiness.
